Many area
students take part in annual UWRF Jazz Festival
UWRF students, Nate Bauermeister on sax and Rachael Radkey on piano performed
as part of the UWRF Jazz Ensemble I concert for nearly 350 area public
school students and teachers on Friday. The concert was part of the St.
Croix Valley Music Educators Association Annual Jazz Festival hosted by

Assistant
Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs
Reporting directly to the Provost and Vice Chancellor for
Academic Affairs, the Assistant Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs,
works with the administration and the faculty of the
University's four colleges to implement the academic mission and vision
of the University. The primary responsibilities include coordination of
the following areas: Academic Success Center, Disability Services/ADA,
Compliance for Students, Tutoring, Pre-Major Advising, Student Support
Services, McNair Scholars, Pre-College Programs, TRIO, Career
Services/Internship Coordination, Honors Program, Faculty &
Academic Staff Development, Graduate Programs (Admin Only), Teaching
with Technology, Commencement Ceremony, Supplemental Advising,
Mentoring and General Education. Specific areas of responsibility will
also be determined based on the strengths and interests of the
candidate chosen.
The successful candidate will be a senior member of the administrative
team of UWRF within Academic Affairs. As such, the successful candidate
must understand, appreciate, and be an integral part of the strategic
planning process, committed to the Wisconsin Growth Agenda, committed
to the mission and values of UWRF, and demonstrate collaborative
engagement in his or her previous and current activities.
The position is a full-time professional academic support position.
Compensation is based on qualifications, including education and
experience.
Qualifications (required):
* Education: Master’s Degree
* Three or more years of progressive experience within UWRF
* Evidence of successful collaboration and interdisciplinary work
* A solid record of leadership experience in higher education
* Ability to work effectively with students, faculty and staff as a
consensus builder and problem solver in fostering academic excellence
* Excellent knowledge of the range of academic issues within UWRF
* Demonstrated focus on student success
* Understanding of issues in higher education at UWRF, within
Wisconsin, and internationally
* Demonstrated awareness and sensitivity to, diverse student and
workplace populations, and ability to contribute to the University’s
commitment to enhancing student and workplace awareness and
appreciation of diverse ethnic and cultural heritages

Congratulations
to the Falcon men's hockey team for winning the 2007 NCHA and WIAC
championships. The Falcons defeated Stout twice, 4-1, on
Friday and 4-3 in overtime on Saturday to win the titles. The Falcons
will host Lake Forest this weekend at Hunt Arena in the first round of
the NCHA playoffs. Game time both days is 7:05 p.m. Tickets are $6 for
adults and $3 for college students (with valid college ID) and senior
citizens. No passes are accepted for NCHA playoff games.

College of Arts and Sciences is sponsoring an online seminar, Time
Management for Academics, on Wednesday, Feb. 21, from noon
to 1:30 p.m. in Room 140, KFA. Featured speaker, Mary McKinney, Ph.D,
is a clinical psychologist and professional coach who specializes in
working with faculty, post-docs and doctoral students. She is the
founder and director of Successful Academic Consulting. For over a
decade, McKinney has helped graduate students finish their
dissertations, post-docs establish productive careers, and junior
faculty get tenure. Participants will learn to:

crystal clear over time. It’s all about succeeding in life, not just
business. At 3 p.m. in the Ballroom, UC, there will be a campus and
community reception for Boehm.
Monday, Feb. 19, 6 p.m., Ballroom D, UC,
President's Day Debate. Students, faculty,and community members are
invited to attend the President's Day Great Campus Debate. Three
student organizations, the Socialist Alternative, the College
Democrats, and the College Republicans, will debate the Iraq War,
health care, environmental/energy policy, and economic issues. It will
be moderated by Neil Kraus.
Don't Forget
Attention
WISDM users: The
way you log into WISDM will change starting Thursday, Feb. 15, as
we move towards using the IAA authentication hub to log into WISDM.
Please
read the attached
document for more information. When the conversion to IAA
occurs,
you will need to know your WISDM password. If you used the saved
password feature in your browser and don't know your WISDM password,
you will need to update your password and remember it for the
conversion. WISDM users will use their Falcon ID and password after the
conversion is complete on Feb. 15. Checking the "Save my campus and
username" box will automatically save the campus and username
information, but will not save your password. Contact Terry
